Over the past decade I have been pursuing my passion as a personal trainer, helping clients succeed on their path to better health. After graduating from The University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Health Promotion, I worked in corporate wellness and at Mercy Hospital’s wellness center, training their employees, wellness center members, and cardiac rehabilitation patients. After the birth of my first child in 2008, I started an in-home personal training business. I thoroughly enjoy not only watching my clients physical transformations, but also how their mental well-being improves during the process.
As a personal trainer, I realize that every individual is different, therefore your exercise program must be customized specifically to your needs. I want you to see and feel how eating healthy and being active can improve your quality of life. You will have more energy, more mental clarity, less stress, and you will see what you are truly capable of. I see too many people underestimate their potential, so I promise, if you’re my client, I will help you convert all of that potential energy into kinetic energy!

Julio has been a Personal/Group Fitness Trainer for over 8 years and has developed a unique way of combining his passion for fitness with creative instruction and a simplified approach for client comprehension (Equational Fitness Theory). His fitness background includes sports and sports-conditioning, weight-loss and weight-training, group training, nutrition, public speaking, and mentoring. He has coached people ages 8 to 85, with varied fitness difficulties and abilities ranging from autism, arthritis, and obesity; to general fitness enthusiasts, corporate wellness, and elite athletes such as Olympic Gold Medalist, Shawn Johnson. Julio continues to work with gymnasts today.
Originally from Des Moines, Julio attended high school in Decorah, Iowa, where he learned and acquired much of his hard work ethic while discovering his natural passion for fitness through adversity of a sports injury his junior year. Doctors told Julio he would walk with a hobble and was likely to never play sports again. But that didn’t stop him. Julio went on to compete at the Iowa Wrestling State Tournament, participated in track and field (hurdling, long jump, and sprints), started Varsity Football and played 3 different positions (Running Back, Strong Safety and Place Kicker) and would walk on to the UNI football team where he received numerous awards for his skills as a Place Kicker. Julio resides in West Des Moines, IA with his wife Nikki and their 2 children, Jalynn (14) and Elijah (12).

Melanie Conner Teare
Following her own physical transformation, which netted her a loss of almost 100 pounds and over 50 inches, Melanie spent several years working as an online health and fitness coach. Due to her personal experience, she knows all too well the motivation and determination needed to lead a healthy lifestyle in order to reach health and fitness goals.
Helping people virtually did not fulfill Melanie’s need to pay it forward and help others achieve the same extreme results she enjoys! Therefore, with her extreme passion, tremendous energy, and vast knowledge of exercise and clean eating, Melanie redirected her efforts and became a Certified Personal Trainer.
Today Melanie works as Certified Personal Trainer and Small Group Trainer at Madestrong. Specializing in weight loss, exercise and nutrition, Melanie is able to help clients overcome nutritional obstacles with creative meal plans and accountability, while providing workout regimens that are tailored specifically to the needs of her clients.
